The creators of those fantrolls have given the fandom something awesome.

By taking Hussie up on his dare — come on, “I bet you won’t give me enough money to make me do this” is a dare — they’ve explicitly put additional complexity into troll culture, in the canon itself. It’s no longer something you have to cite Hussie in a maybe-serious-maybe-trolling ask response for. It’s unquestionably there:

We have now seen trolls with signs that are original designs, similar in style to zodiac signs but unique. We have now seen trolls with blood colors that fall between those of the 12 major spectrum spots — the colors on their shirts are #0049ff and #8a008a, which match nothing the existing cast had. The existence of those trolls says that yes, without question, there is more variability and more subtlety among trolls than our existing sample of 12 bloodlines suggested. As someone who loves to see and play with worldbuilding for troll society and culture I am THRILLED by that and I want to see that nuance make its way into more fic.

Shit damn, the kid on the left has nunchaku that appear to be MADE OUT OF HORNS. Can we get some fic about the cultural significance of making weaponry out of the horns of your fallen comrades and/or your defeated foes? Can that be a thing? That’s an amazing thing.

The people responsible for those fantrolls and that page are great, is what I’m saying. They tossed a big pile of money into giving all of us the best possible Homestuck game AND they broadened the trolls’ universe explicitly in doing so. Thanks, you guys. That was rad.

YES, THANK YOU. THIS. I’m pretty heartily sick of seeing those two kids all over my dash at this point but fuck me anyway, this is the epitome of Homestuck, artistically, conceptually—THIS is what Homestuck IS, I mean WOW like GOSH DANG talk about engaging directly with the audience.
